Wickersham Dome, Part 2 and Olnes Pond (July 13th and 14th)

On the ridge to Aggie (3193 feet, 973.2 m).
We could see the mountains far away!

Here is the latter bunch of the pictures taken on Wickersham Dome and Olnes Pond.
After the hike at Wickersham Dome, we were planning to camp out near Grapefruit Rocks, but it didn't seem so fun to go up when we drove near the trailhead, so we drove back to Olnes Pond, and we camped in our rig at the campground around the pond.

Wickersham Dome

Saxifraga tricuspidata (Three Toothed Saxifrage).

花はシコタンソウに激似ですが、
葉っぱの先が3つに割れている点が違っています。

Campanula lasiocarpa (Mountain Harebell or Alaska Harebell)
and Linnaea borealis (Twinflower).

Dryas octopetala (Mountain Avens, Eightpetal Mountain-avens).

Cornus canadensis (Canadian Bunchberry, Bunchberry Dogwood).

Vaccinium uliginosum (Bog Blueberry, or Northern Bilberry).
They were so tiny compared with the ones growing at the bottom of the mountains.

The flat summit of Aggie.

We had some rice balls with tuna for lunch enjoying this nice view!

Chamerion latifolium (Dwarf Fireweed).
They were blooming only by the huge tower on the top of Aggie.

Castilleja elegans (Elegant Indian Paintbrush).
We saw this flower for the first time.

Castilleja elegans (Elegant Indian Paintbrush).
It is elegant, isn't it?

 Arnica lessingii (Nodding Arnica).

Vaccinium uliginosum (Bog Blueberry, or Northern Bilberry).

Moneses uniflora, or Pyrola uniflora
(Single Delight, Shy Maiden, or One-flowered Wintergreen).

On the way to check out the trailhead of Grapefruit Rocks,
we saw the pipeline and the forest recovering from the recent forest fire.

After the hike, we decided to stay at the campground by Olnes Pond.

It was so hot on that day,
so there were quite a few people enjoying bathing in the pond.

In the morning, the pond was quiet and still.

Here are the blueberries we picked at Wickersham Dome.
I made them into syrup-like jam.

We stopped by our home after camping out at Olnes Pond.
Then, we found a young robin was sitting still by our garden.

Even when I came close to it, it stayed still without moving.
