Yatsugatake (Part 3), Nagano (June 9th and 10th)

Mt. Ioudake on the way down from Natsuzawa Pass to Honzawa Hot Spring.

Here is the last bunch of the pictures from our Yatsugatake trip.  We stayed at Honzawa Hot Spring on the last day.  The hut has two baths.  One is outside and the other is inside one.
I prefer the inside bath and I bathed several times during our stay.

Schizocodon soldanelloides (Iwa Kagami).

Rhododendron (Shakunage) bushes were amazing near the hut of Honzawa Hot Spring.
They said they were going to held Rhododendron Festival in July.

The outside bath.  It started raining, so we just bathed here for five minutes or so.

The supper at the hut.  Actually nothing special.

The inside bath of the hut.  It was pretty big bath tub.  The water color was light beige.

On the way from the Honzawa Hot Spring hut to Midori-ike (pond).
The barks of the trees were covered with lichens.

Dactylostalix ringens (Ichi-you Ran).

Midori-ike (pond).

Shirabiso hut.

Dactylostalix ringens (Ichi-you Ran).

Until we got to Inago-yu Bus Stop larch forest was spreading
with ferns at the bottom of the trees.

We took Koumi Line back to Kobuchizawa Sta.
We saw lots of lettuce fields from the window.

Yatsugatake (Part 2), Nagano (June 8th and 9th)

Mt. Akadake and Mt. Nakadake from the Gyouja Hut.

Here are the pictures taken on the way to Mt. Akadake.  On the first day when we got to the hut right near the summit of Mt. Akadake, it was no rain till we got there.  However, after we got there, it started to rain.  There were only four guests including us on that day, so we enjoyed a quiet night.
The next day, the wind was so strong that we both got scared to keep going on the ridge of Mt. Yokodake to Mt. Ioudake.  The rain wouldn't stop for a long time, so we could hardly take any pictures.  From Mt. Ioudake we went down to Natsuzawa Pass and kept going down to Honzawa Hot Spring, where we stayed.

Here is the Akadake Choujou Hut.

Pulsatilla nipponica (Tsukumo-gusa).
This plant is known for its rarity, because they grown only in Mt. Yokodake area
and Mt. Hakuba area in Honshu island, Japan.

Oxytropis japonica (Oyama-no-endou).

Finally we could get some view at the Mt. Yokodake area on the second day.

The baby of Lagotis glauca (Uruppu-sou).

Yatsugatake (Part 1), Nagano (June 8th)

Calypso bulbosa var. speciosa (Hotei Ran).

We went to see some Calypso bulbosa var. speciosa (Hotei Ran) flowers at the Yatsugatake area.  Here are the pictures taken from Minodo Bus Stop to Gyouja Hut.

The Collage (February 11th)

The collage of the Rebun Island pictures.

It has been a while since I updated my blog last time.
We did nothing special these days, so I am making some collages from the pictures of our trips in the past. Here are the collages of the pictures taken on the Rebun Island and in the Yatsugatake area.

The collage of the Yatsugatake area.

Yatsugatake Trip, Part 4 (June 5th)

Akadake Kousen Hut. We had lunch here.

Here are the pictures taken on the Kitazawa trail beside the creek and on the way back to the busstop. On this trail we found quite a few flowers.

Look back at Daidoushin and Mt. Yokodake from the entrance of the Kitazawa trail.

The Kitazawa trail was pretty nicely maintained. We crossed the creek several times.

Viola selkirkii (Miyama Sumire).
We found some really tiny ones in a small area by the creek.

Viola biflora (Kibana-no-komanotsume).

Viola biflora (Kibana-no-komanotsume).
There were lots of them blooming by the creek.

Viola selkirkii (Miyama Sumire).

Viola selkirkii (Miyama Sumire).
We found a big patch of them! I was amazed because I had never seen so many!

Viola selkirkii (Miyama Sumire).

Oxalis acetosella (Ko Miyama-katabami).
Pink ones like this were not many.

Oxalis acetosella (Ko Miyama-katabami).
Most of them were white flowers with pink lines like this.

On the way to the busstop. Beautiful greens and blue sky...
We were both tired, but we enjoyed this long round trip.
