The visitor center at Creamer's Field.
Today we went to take a walk at Creamer's Field, the famous migratory waterfowl refuge in Fairbanks.
I thought it was just a meadow type of land, but the place actually has more varieties of environment, such as marsh, wetland, pond, and flooded forest.
We encountered an animal, which I have never seen by myself before.
フェアバンクスで渡り鳥の経由地として有名なクリーマーズ・フィールドという所に散策しに行ってきました。
もともと農場だったっていう話は聞いていたので、牧草地的な場所かと思ったら、それだけでなく、奥の方には水辺もあるし、湿地帯もあるし、季節によっては水没する森林地帯なんかもあって、変化に富んでいて面白かったです。
今回、お初の動物にも出会えましたよ。

鳴き声に気づいたら、カナダヅルが飛んでいました。

This one looked like a semi-albino.
The calyxes were pink, but the petals were white.

ここだけでなく、フェアバンクスのいたるところで
ヤナギランが見られます。
ノバラは実をつけていました。

後姿…水中なんで分かりにくいけど、
大きなしっぽが分かりますよね。

ヒメカイウってやつですね。

The sign at Creamer's Field shows this berry with the name "Salmon Berry),
but it seems Cloudberry is more common name for this plant.

ほっそりあっさりしたラショウモンカズラ風の花。

この子はだいぶ、水に浸かっちゃってます。
Vicia cracca (Bird Vetch).
This is a species of vetch native to Europe and Asia,
so It is an invasive species here in Alaska.
We can see them everywhere such as by the highway.
クサフジ…こちらでは外来生物として危険視されてます。
だけど、もうすでにハイウェイの両サイドを占領してる光景が
至る所で見られます。
Some yellow flowers were covering the whole area.
この黄色いニガナ風の花もきっと外来種なのかな…
At the open field, we couldn't see many cranes today,
but we saw a lot of them last month.
こんなめっちゃ繁殖しちゃってるけど…

カナダガンと一緒にたくさんいました。
When I was uploading today's blog, I just remembered today is July 7th,
the day of "Tanabata"!
So, I made a Tanabata arrangement using a fireweed stem instead of bamboo.
そういえば、7月7日＝七夕じゃないか、と夜になって気づいて、
庭に生えているヤナギランの葉っぱを竹笹に見立てて、
即興で、ミニサイズの短冊なんか飾ってみました。
平和に暮らせますように！
