Viola mirabilis var. subglabra (Ibuki Sumire).
We took the Aomori Shinkansen for the first time to get to Sendai. It took only 1 and a half hours from Tokyo to Sendai. It was so quick!
When we got to the dam, we couldn't find many violets for a while. However, after we took turns to the other side of the dam, we found lots of leaves of Viola mirabilis var. subglabra (Ibuki Sumire). It was our first time to see this kind of violet in Touhoku region, so it was pretty exciting. Unfortunately, almost all the flowers were gone, but it was still amazing to see so many of them growing right by the dam.
Another interesting thing was that we found several kinds of violets there, including the violets which grows in the Pacific side of Japan and also the ones growing in the Japan Sea side.
杜の都仙台近郊のダム湖にスミレ探しに行ってきました。
残念ながら咲いてる花はひとつふたつしか見られませんでしたが、イブキスミレが密集していて驚きました。東北ではじめて見るイブキに興奮して、葉っぱばかりなのにもかかわらず写真をとる私の姿に、相方は若干、失笑ぎみ。太平洋側なのに日本海側要素のスミレも見られたのが面白かったです。
今度は満開のイブキスミレ、見てみたいなぁ…
Fresh long onion field was pretty on the way to the dam.
About 30 minutes or so from the closest bus stop.
近くのバス停から30分ほど歩くとダムの端っこにたどり着きました。
Akebia quinata (Akebi).
アケビの花があちこちで咲いてました。
Lithospermum zollingeri (Hotaru Kazura).
Anemone flaccida (Nirin-sou).
Trillium tschonoskii (Miyama Enrei-sou).
Viola verecunda (Tsubo Sumire).
Viola grypoceras f. pubescens (Ke Tachitsubo Sumire).
Viola yezoensis (Hikage Sumire).
タカオと呼んでもよさそうなものも含めて、とにかく
ヒカゲスミレがいっぱい！

ヒナスミレなんかも結構、数がありました。

うげっ！ こんなイブキの密生は見たことが無いですね！ しかも道沿いにぎっしりと！ こんなに無造作に群生しているとは凄いところですね～ ヒカゲもびっしり・・・ 遠くで無ければ行って見たいところです。かなり早い時期に満開になりそうですから来年は４月再訪が良さそうですね。
葉っぱだけですけどこれだけあると興奮しちゃいますね(^-^;)
4月下旬くらいがよかったのかも。
蔵王周辺の散策をされてる人のブログを見て出かけてみたのですが、期待以上に群生していました。
そこまでスミレ熱が東北には広まっていないのが幸いしてか、こんな無防備な状態で生き残っているようです。
