Zao, Yamagata (May 4th)

The caldera of Zao "Okama"...There was still snow.

My parents took us to the wild plant garden of Yamagata city on the way to Zao.

Shinjo, Yamagata (May 3rd)

Waterfall at the bottom of Mt. Mokuzou.

After hiking on the short trail from my home, father picked us up and took us to Mt. Mokuzou. We just walked down on the trail beside the creek for a while, but we found lots of nice flowers and father picked quite a bunch of mountain vegetables for supper.

This one is really blue... Most of these flowers which you can see in Tokyo are white.

Hometown, Yamagata (May 3rd)

Cherry blossoms at the yard of my home.

This one is the yellow green kind of cherry also at my yard.

Today we left Tokyo for my hometown, Funagata in Yamagata early in the morning by Shinkansen. At the mountain side of the areas had still some snow left, but the beautiful spring greens were just starting there. We enjoyed short hike to the mountain back my home. We found 4 new kinds of violets, which grow only at the Japan Sea side of Japan. I must have seen these when I was a kid, but I didn't know the names of violets, so I finally recognized these beautiful flowers through the knowledge from these years' research of the violets.
The area was pretty changed, but the flowers, which I saw and picked when I was kid, were still there.
