Takao Area (April 10th & 11th)

Black cat on Mt. Kobotokeshiroyama.
（小仏城山にいた人恋しい黒猫。）

We hiked from Mt. Takao to Icchodaira and camped out there on 10th. And then we went to Mt. Kobotokeshiroyama and down to Hikage creek on 11th. We found many kinds of violets all the way during this trip. First of all, I would like to feature the 2 kinds of them; Viola phalacrocarpa (Akane Sumire) and Viola phalacrocarpa f. glaberrima (Oka Sumire). We found those 2 kinds of violets on the way to Icchodaira and at the Mt. Kobotokeshiroyama. Both violets have beautiful color flowers. The difference between these 2 kinds is that Viola phalacrocarpa (Akane Sumire) has hairy spur and stems, even some hairs on their leaves, on the other hand, Viola phalacrocarpa f. glaberrima (Oka Sumire) has no hairs except the ones inside of the flowers. 高尾山から一丁平、そこで天泊して、小仏城山、日影へと歩いてきました。いろいろな種類のスミレが見られたのですが、アカネスミレとオカスミレが印象的だったので、この際、2種を見比べてみようと思います。（本を見ながらなので、間違えていたらご指摘ください。）

（距の細長くなっている形は両者に共通して特徴的。花弁の基部が閉じ気味なので花の内部が見えないことが多いのも共通の特徴。）

（オカスミレは、距も花柄もつるっとしてます。）

We also found Viola rossi (Akebono Sumire) at Mt. Kobotokeshiro.
