Grapefruit Rocks (Part 1) (May 29th)

 Here is the first bunch of the pictures taken on our trip to Grapefruit Rocks (39 Mile post on Elliot Highway).

仕事が休みの日に、車で１時間ほどの所にハイキングに行ってきました。

グレープフルーツ・ロックスと呼ばれる奇岩が有名な（そんなに有名でもないかも…一部の人に有名な）場所に行ってきました。

途中、数年前に山火事があった場所を通るのですが、そこ一面にワタスゲが群生していました。

カッコウが鳴く爽やかさはありませんが、ひと時の「尾瀬感」を楽しめました。

どうも今年はワタスゲの当たり年のような気がします。

本当に絨毯みたいに群生していました。

フキの仲間も生えてました。

葉っぱはまだ展開してませんが、

日本のものとは全く違う形をしています。 

たべられるのかな？

Equisetum sylvaticum (Wood Horsetail).

つくしの仲間もたくさん生えていました。

家の周りに生えているのとはちょっと違うみたい。

 

Spiraea stevenii (Beauverd Spirea or Alaska Spirea).

 

Vaccinium uliginosum (Bog Bilberry or Bog Blueberry).

ブルーベリーの花が鈴なりに咲いてました。

 

Geocaulon lividum (Northern Comandra or Northern Bastard Toadflax or Pumpkin Berry).

We saw its orange berries last year at Angel Rocks.

Dasiphora fruticosa (Shrubby Cinquefoil or Tundra Rose).

キンロバイも道路脇の藪の中でよく見かけます。

花はまだ咲き出したばかり。

 

Rosa acicularis (Prickly Wild Rose). 

The first rose-colored bud we saw this year!

Their blooming season is coming soon.

オオタカネバラ…家の周りにも群生していますが、

ばら色がのぞいた蕾は、今年お初です。

ハイブッシュ・クランベリーも家の周りに繁茂してます。

セイヨウネズの実。

斜面を這うような形で生えていました。

 なんとかハタザオの一種。

リシリソウの仲間。 

英名は「Mountain Deathcamas」…ちょっと物騒な名前が付いている通り、毒があるそう。

去年の花がらがあるだけで、まだ花は咲いてませんでした。

オキナグサの仲間。花が咲いた後の状態。

小ぶりなハナシノブの仲間。 

去年、フェアバンクス目指してカナダを通り抜けたときに群生していました。

ここでは岩場に点々と咲いていました。
