Nogawa Park & ICU (March 30th)


Weeping willow trees in Nogawa Park now has beautiful leaves.

We went to Nogawa Park and the ICU campus.
We found lots of Viola grypoceras (Tachitsubo Sumire), but it was still early for the cherry blossoms. It will be nice next weekend.

Shinjuku Gyoen (March 29th)


Cherry "Someiyoshino".

We went to Shinjuku Gyoen to see some cherry blossoms. It was a little too early for the peak but several kinds of them were already blooming. Unfortunately it started to rain a bit and it was pretty cold all day.

The white one is probably Cerasus speciosa (Ooshima-zakura) & the pink one is Prunus cv. Youkou (=Prunus x yedoensis cv. Amagai-yoshino x P. campanulata) (Youkou, 陽光).

Koishikawa Botanical Garden, Hakusan, Tokyo (March 27th)


Prunus yamasakura "Mure Zakura".

We went to see some cherry blossoms at Koishikawa Botanical Garden in Hakusan.
This time we could enter the greenhouse for the first time. They showed some orchids and the plants from the Ogasawara islands. Cherry blossoms just started to bloom, but we could see several kinds of them already there.

ここならではの外来植物のひとつですね。

この色合いが好きです。いつもの場所に咲いていました。

やっぱりここといったら、このスミレですよね。っというか、小さすぎてほとんどの人は目も留めていませんが…。

はじめてここの温室に入れました。耐震強度の関係で、部分的に開放中。

This one is pretty rare species in the Ogasawara islands.
温室内には、学名に「bonin...」とついている小笠原の植物が栽培されていました。
いつかは行ってみたいな…。

I didn't know the cherry called "Someiyoshino" has quite a few variations.

I like Yamazakura because of its beautiful red leaves.

This one was already finishing, but the flowers were so lovely.

ユキヤナギも満開に咲いているとうれしくなります。
